Review by Joshua Talley

The album Joys Concerns by Negro Problem is a unique and eclectic mix of genres that showcases the band's versatility and creativity. With elements of rock, funk, and even jazz, the album is a refreshing departure from the standard fare of contemporary music.

The lyrics are introspective and thought-provoking, exploring themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. The band's lead vocalist, Stew, delivers each line with raw emotion and intensity, drawing the listener in with every word.

Musically, the album is a tour de force, with intricate guitar riffs and complex drum patterns that keep the listener engaged from start to finish. The band's musicianship is on full display throughout the album, with each member contributing their unique talents to create a cohesive and dynamic sound.

Notes

  • Jewel case w/clear tray. All technical credits are printed on the back insert underneath the disc. Front cover insert is a single front-and-back printed 4.75" square sheet.
  • Track 12, "Come Down Now" runs for 5:00, then into silence. At 13:56, the first of a suite of uncredited songs begins. Another begins at 18:54. Another at 22:44. The last begins at 27:21, which sounds like a live track. None are named. Musician credits for songs not in the printed tracklist suggest two of them are called "Mad" and "Remote Control Ghost To The Rescue," with a third alluded to as simply "?"
  • Note that the cover states that track 9 is "Goode Tyme", Track 10 is "The Rain In Leimert Park On Tuesday" and track 11 is "Ken".
  • Track 12 really is 32:05 long.
  • This is not valid on every CD, maybe they corrected it.

Comments

Wayne Smith "Under Me Sleng Teng". Instantly recognized that 8 bit bassline as soon as I heard it.
Great song and cool video! Stew is the best.
This is such a great song, but the video doesn't go well with it, and is distracting . It would be nice if the song could be reposted with a better video, or none at all, and in higher resolution.
The first time i saw them was in Seattle , it was intense. Being in an active band in LA, we played similar places but never played shows with them; I was always curious about their music. After watching their show, We were blown away- they are one of the greatest bands ever. I’m a huge fan , thanks for posting this.
One of Stew's best. Amazing artist!
I'm in the crowd
Great lyrics and song -" I'll be force to kiss these plastic tits" and "someone to love since I am not setup to screw"  awesome STEW
My daughter's second favorite Stew song....well, 'Gary's Song' IS pretty hot!
