Manu Dibango - Abele Dance

Review by Emily Van Genderen

Abele Dance by Manu Dibango is a vibrant and energizing album that showcases the legendary musician's talents and creativity. The album features a fusion of African rhythms, jazz, funk, and soul, creating a unique and dynamic sound that is both catchy and danceable.

From the opening track "Wakafrika" to the closing number "Sango Yesus Christo," Abele Dance takes listeners on a musical journey through different styles and moods. The infectious beats and grooves of "Abele Dance" and "Soul Makossa" will get anyone on their feet, while the more contemplative and reflective songs like "Makossa Man" and "Africa Boogie" show Dibango's depth as a musician and songwriter.

The album is a testament to Dibango's versatility as an artist, and his ability to blend different genres and traditions into a cohesive and exciting whole. The arrangements are tight and polished, with excellent musicianship and production values that showcase the clarity and power of Dibango's saxophone playing.

Finally resurfaced again in 2013 on "Change The Beat - The Celluloid Records Story 1979 - 1987" by Various Artists.
you know it Audrey !!!!
Acompañandome siempre en la maleta de vinilos.
I played drums for Fatal Charm in 1984 when we were also on the carrere records label. Probably the only worthwhile thing that carrere did to make me happy was making me aware of Manu. They totally fucked up when it came to giving "endangered species " any attention. But I didn't die at the age of 27 , so I guess I'm not totally pissed off . Ps. Did Freddy Cannon ever get fired. ??!!
For me this song is absolute PARIS! R.I.P.
1:40 Herbie Hancock rock it phrase on saxophone.
Manu Dibango is a genius.
Probably the coolest cover photo ever . I so want those shades.
The real reason George Orwell wrote 1984.
Pura Afro Funk
No more , or no less cowbell. Simply perfect.
Too tough for most humans
