Review by Michon Neal

Look Around by Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66 is an album that is sure to transport listeners to a world of vibrant rhythms and smooth melodies. The album features a mix of original compositions and covers of popular songs, all infused with the unique sound of the Brazilian bossa nova.

From the opening track "With a Little Help from My Friends" to the closing track "Chelsea Morning," the album showcases the incredible vocal harmonies of Brasil '66, backed by the impeccable instrumentation of Sérgio Mendes and his band. The album's standout tracks include "Mais Que Nada," a catchy and upbeat song that has become a classic of the bossa nova genre, and "The Look of Love," a sultry and romantic rendition of the Burt Bacharach classic.

Impossibly heartbreakingly pretty ... Replayed 4 the gazillionth time! That wonderful key change the last time around & back ... gorgeous
Beautiful, mellow samba. Beautiful lyrics by Marilyn & Alan Bergman.
The deep voiced, soulful Sarah Vaughn also did a great rendition.

Long live Albany Park!!
Lani Hall= My GORGEOUS Jewish American Princess, man!!
Lani Hall had such a gifted voice to sing with feeling as this song shows. The song has been one of my favorites for over half a Century now and it is so nice, I think some fifty years from now someone shall still hear and like it.
My Dad used to play this record all the time ...and I love it! Even when I was a teen in the 70's I thought it was cool ( Yes, I did get into Led Zep and Pink Floyd) There was something very soulful about this music! So much Talent and Turmoil grown up in the 60's and 70's, it helps that we had such great music!
I always cry every time I hear this nice and beautiful music, thank you for the memories
best music of Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 back in Manila is 70s
Omg the soul of Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 was the voice of Lani Hall...I m the big fan
A very fine song and so nicely performed it is a young person's song really. When we are young we see a lot of opportunities after we finish the University and wonder where shall we work and which is the better choice besides the same goes for our mate there are so many nice girls but -which is the right one for us? Fortunately I made the right choices when young and now am an old but satisfied and happy old man.
My Mom had good taste in many of her records when I was a kid growing up in the 60's. Sergio Mendes was one of the Bossa nova Masters. Sarah Vaughn sings a beautiful rendition of this song too. My sister Rosalia's favorite tune.
Such a hauntingly beautiful song. I had this album as a teen and loved this group so much!
Lani Hall had such a nice voice really and she sang with feeling so much so she has the capability of making me feel what she sings. The song is very good and very nice to hear so many years later and it is timeless really. It describes those reflections we have when we are young and unattached.
So many stars one of the beautiful songs of Sergio mendes , the entire song by handled by Lani Hall
Beautiful rendition
A young person's song which does not know where to head, what to do for a living or which mate to take. All seem so good from a distance and I remember I wondered as the song says "the sky is full of dreams so many dreams which one is mine or must be right for me? Thinks I wondered long ago when I was in my twenties. Very good song really "So many eyes, so many hearts so many stars, how can I tell how will I go?" Very good really.
my favorite song listened too in 1985-1986 at school (cited in 1969)
The "Look Around" album was a favorite around the Jackson/Burgess household in those days.. mostly because of Sergio's superior spin on Bacharach's "The Look Of Love". One of Mom's many 'Do Not Touch' items in her record collection. I confess. I touched it. And "So Many Stars" was the dreamy devil that made me do it. Lani Hall's euphoric vocal performance.. Dave Grusin and Dick Hazard's angelic String arrangement.. coupled with Sergio's breezy-soft rhythm arrangement.. made for a truly transcendent moment in music. I would sneak the album into my room (after my folks and sibs were asleep) and play this song, over and over and over. On the night my moms busted me, I was blessed that her own inner-musician kicked in (as she was a classically-trained Contralto).. and we ended up marveling collectively over the brilliance of this song.. before she insisted I go to bed. So, the song holds the additional element of being a major bonding moment.. between my beloved mom and I.
I still have this album in my collection, but no turntable any more. This song takes be back to when it was all new, even though this wasn't on the top 40.
Nice song. I only found it because I wondered where the sample in Alps Cru - Loudmouths was from.
NO one but NO one should sing this but Lani Hall.  That means you too Barbra!!  Maybe thirty years ago.  But Lani's the only one who has the voice to bring this song to life.
Timeless...
Just *Great Music* from the past...
after 21 years since listening to this the first time the opening 14  seconds still sends shivers down my spine !!
You will never hear music like this again in our lifetime. Feel blessed if you have grown up to this music and treasure it for your life.
Thanks for this classic.  Beautiful song shows Lani Hall's great voice like no other.  Sooooo Smooth.  Who wouldn't fall in love with her?
My grandfather used to love this song and he’s Greek. A friend of mine is Brazilian and this goes to Flavia!!!!!❤
como faz falta Sergio Mendes.
This was one of my favourite albums from back in the sixties.   I was a young teenage lad back then so I naturally fell instantly in love with Lani Hall.  Who couldn't fall in love with that beautiful voice.
