About Photek
UK producer and musician.
Born 1972 in St Albans, England
A fixture on the UK jungle scene since the early nineties, Photek a.k.a. Rupert Parkes (associated with Ipswich in the nineties) is best known for his role in developing the "intelligent" drum & bass genre. Over the course of his career as Photek, Parkes has developed a sound that is simultaneously individual, innovative and accessible, earning him much respect and popularity amongst critics and music fans alike. The strength of the sound finds foundation in Photeks incredibly detailed drum programming, which is then augmented by his sophisticated sense for combining abstract sounds with jazz and classic techno influences.
Recently Parkes has been more and more active in producing music for film, having worked on a number of scoring projects for upcoming features from his new home base in Los Angeles. His dedication to film scoring is evident, and his perfectionist attention to detail and tireless work ethic are quickly leading him to success in Hollywood.

Im not the biggest dubstep fan... but this is massive production.... Miss his d&b so much tho. And his solaris album is the number 1 album of a llll time!

This is good and all, but there is something not quite right about it. It is like a plastic version of what he used to be like. Everything is too bright and clean.
Good as always. Evolving but still true to his own sound. I think a Photek Feat. Burial could be an interesting mix of worlds. listen o Burial's Dog Shelter and this song simultanius and one gets an interesting mashup. Guys meet up and make a fecking record!!!

I remember buying photek records back in 95-96, I loved modus operandi and Ni Ten Ichi Ryu, the seven samurai. I was interested to hear the new album how much his sound has evolved from those ep's from 15 years ago.. conclusion.. not so much. Still awesome production.
I bought the album and i was positivly surprised especially this number play loud and listen to this number very loud and you know wat i mean, the bass ,Stefan from Heerhugowaard The north oNorth of holland ...
