Ocelárna, the album by Karel Kryl, is a masterpiece of Czech folk music. Released in 1979, this album showcases Kryl's unique voice and guitar skills, as well as his poetic songwriting.
The album's title track, "Ocelárna," is a haunting ballad that tells the story of a steel mill worker who sacrifices his life for his family. Kryl's voice is raw and emotional, perfectly capturing the pain and struggle of the working class.
Other standout tracks include "Bratříčku, zavírej vrátka," a song about the oppression of the Soviet Union, and "Anděl," a beautiful ode to love and friendship.
