Per Nørgård - Expanding Space

Expanding Space, the latest album by Per Nørgård, is a breathtaking musical journey that takes the listener on a cosmic adventure. The Danish composer, who is renowned for his innovative and experimental approach to music, has created a collection of pieces that are both hauntingly beautiful and intellectually stimulating.
The album opens with the title track, Expanding Space, which sets the tone for the rest of the album. It begins with a gentle, ethereal melody that gradually builds in intensity, creating a sense of vastness and infinity. The music is filled with unexpected twists and turns, as Nørgård explores the boundaries of tonality and rhythm.
One of the standout tracks on the album is the hauntingly beautiful I Ching, which features the mesmerizing vocals of Helene Gjerris. The piece is based on the ancient Chinese divination text of the same name, and Nørgård has created a musical interpretation that captures the essence of the text.
Another highlight of the album is the piece Borderlines, which features the virtuosic violin playing of Peter Herresthal. The piece is a tour-de-force of technical skill, as Herresthal navigates the intricate rhythms and complex harmonies with ease.
