Review by Alain Chardonnens

Oh Wonder's sophomore album Ultralife is a vibrant and dynamic collection of songs that showcase the duo's growth and evolution as artists. From the opening track "Solo" to the closing number "Waste," the album is filled with catchy hooks, lush harmonies, and infectious beats that will keep listeners engaged from start to finish.

The album's title track and lead single "Ultralife" is a standout, with its upbeat tempo, soaring vocals, and optimistic lyrics. It's a song that celebrates life and encourages listeners to live it to the fullest. Another highlight is "High On Humans," a song about the joy of human connection and the power of love.

Throughout the album, Oh Wonder's unique blend of electronic and acoustic instrumentation creates a soundscape that is both dreamy and grounded. The duo's voices blend seamlessly together, creating a sense of intimacy and vulnerability that draws the listener in.

About Oh Wonder

English alternative pop duo, based in London. They rose to fame through Soundcloud, in which they had decided to post an original song every month, beginning on 1 September 2014. Each song was written, recorded, produced and mixed by the duo in their home studio in South-East London. These monthly installations culminated a year later in the release of their self-titled album, which also included two unreleased songs.

Comments

Overall Rating 3/10Number of Tracks I Enjoyed 3/12Ultralife by Oh Wonder is a weak attempt of an alternative band to become pop/mainstream. The album was weakly produced, lacked soul and was at often times repetitive and just lacking overall. The only songs I could bare to make it through were the titletrack Ultralife, Heart Strings, and My Friends.I do have to mention the beauty of the track titled 'My Friends', this is a deep and emotional song that really didn't belong on this album. My Friends lacked the electronic elements that Oh Wonder was attempting to achieve.
Just love the loving connection between them here. Awesome video. Plus... Anthony's hair ❤️
