Review by Folajomi Aremu

Simply The Blues is a fantastic blues album by John Mayall that showcases his exceptional musicianship and songwriting skills. The album features 10 tracks that are a mix of original compositions and covers of classic blues tunes.

Mayall's vocals are soulful and passionate, and his harmonica playing is nothing short of brilliant. His guitar work is also impressive, and he is joined by a talented band that includes Greg Rzab on bass and Jay Davenport on drums.

The album opens with "Big Legged Woman," a bluesy number that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Other standout tracks include "I Feel So Bad," "Streamline," and "Ain't No Guarantees."

One of the best live performances of all time
Still illegal in half of the US... and the UK for rec, I believe.... O_o
I just love this man!!?
I have only ever bought two albums in my life:Turning Point By John Mayall and Bitches Brew by Miles Davis.
One of the great albums of 1969. Such a shame that we have lost half of this great ensemble already in Steve Thompson ( bass) and the great Johnny Almond ( Horns & flute). R.I.P you stars !
That flute is mad crazy good !!!
I hid and stole this record from my older brother when he moved out, he was mad he couldn't find it, i never told him and never gave it back. I still have it.
The time must surely come
For the laws to fit the times
The time must surely come
For the laws to fit the times
But while the law is standing
You've got to open up your minds

It seems to be the fashion
To say you're right and they are wrong
It seems to be the fashion
To say you're right and they are wrong
But if you don't see both sides
You'll find yourself in jail 'fore long

You're screaming at policemen
But they're only doing a gig
You're screaming at policemen
But they're only doing a gig
Try and take the time
To figure out how the issue got that big

Lenny Bruce was trying to tell you
Many things before he died
Lenny Bruce was trying to tell you
Many things before he died
Like don't throw rocks at policemen
But get the knots of law untied

Every time you're holding
You are guilty of a crime
Every time you're holding
You are guilty of a crime
The laws must change one day
But it's going to take some time
I've heard this artpiece thousand time's; my father listened this, cigarette in his hand and beer on the other, before going to church marrying my mother, i am the eldest of my siblings so figure it out. It's written in the stars that i'm gonna dig blues, and yes i have. Blues is my tune, i am deeply depressed individual with alcoholic problem. I'm 37 and been 10 years in nice relationship, i just can't coldproduce child in to this world where all good manners are gone and bad habits is the new thing.
Im not sure if he done seen de light or fell off de train. saw him do this new stuff at fillmore east, was blown away
What a blues harp & flute solo!!!
Damn! Great album! Smoke a fat one,and lay .... back......!!!!
Thank my brother ,steve! Favorite album with no drums! Get couch locked stoned, and enjoy this killer album!!
this is great
Back in July 1969, John Mayall went on the road with his new percussionless group. The Bluesbreakers and broken up and something new was coming. He recorded Turning Point in early July. I saw him in late July at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago with the new basically acoustic group. Aragon was very close to Kinetic where Jethro Tull was playing that night along with Spooky Tooth and I think Ritchie Havens. So it was a big deal to go to Aragon to see this concert since there was heavy competition. But it was the right move because everyone in that ballroom was blown away by the incredible sounds... things they had never heard before. Come July of this year it will be 50 years that I have been listening to my 33 RPM album named the Turning Point. I am amazed it hasn't worn through. In any case, this is one of the great albums of all time. Unfortunately not enough of us were tuned into it and things went back to a more traditional style. I have not and doubt that I ever will forget the Turning Point.
Maestro vengan a Chile
