Dizzy Gillespie - Le Bouillant Monsieur Gillespie

Review by Sascha Göbel

Le Bouillant Monsieur Gillespie is a legendary album by Dizzy Gillespie, the renowned jazz trumpeter and composer. Released in 1965, this album showcases Gillespie's unique and innovative approach to jazz music, combining African rhythms, bebop, and Latin influences.

The album features some of Gillespie's most famous compositions, such as "Manteca" and "Tin Tin Deo", as well as some lesser-known gems like "Con Alma" and "Fiesta Mojo". The musicianship on display is truly exceptional, with Gillespie's trumpet playing at the forefront of the arrangements, supported by a talented group of musicians including saxophonist James Moody, pianist Kenny Barron, and drummer Rudy Collins.

What sets Le Bouillant Monsieur Gillespie apart from other jazz albums of its time is the sheer energy and passion that Gillespie brings to each track. His virtuosic playing is matched by the intensity and drive of the rhythm section, creating a dynamic and electrifying sound that is impossible to resist.

Just found a copy of this verve title at a used record store in great condition. Loving it! The Verve Vinyl from this era is among the best and they hold up very well, only the cover seems worn a bit but it adds to the character of this great record.
If it's so great, how come the LP has not been fully downloaded on YouTube?
Sam Jones (bass) , Lex Humphries (drums).
Yeah! That's my reaction to the tasteful swing of this ensemble and the way they interact.
