Highlights The Very Best Of Yes by Yes is a must-have for any fan of progressive rock. The album features 12 of the band's most iconic tracks, including "Roundabout," "Owner of a Lonely Heart," and "I've Seen All Good People." The compilation showcases the band's incredible musicianship, intricate arrangements, and soaring harmonies.

The album opens with "Survival," a powerful track that sets the tone for the rest of the collection. From there, the listener is taken on a journey through Yes's most memorable hits, including "Yours Is No Disgrace" and "Starship Trooper." The album also includes the epic "Close to the Edge," a 19-minute masterpiece that showcases the band's ability to create complex, multi-layered compositions.

Comments

Highlights from the band's Atlantic Records era (1969-1987)By the time this compilation was released, the band had been off Atlantic Records for a number of years and had even burned through it's Arista contract. That's not to say that Atlantic wasn't still putting out Yes releases. The band had put together a box set in 1991 called Yesyears for their old label followed by a two cd compilation called Yessstory about 16 months later. This release followed just under a year after Yesstory.. This collection drops some of the side long songs in favor of a more tightly packed single cd set aimed at a broader audience. The only problem for me here is that the disc runs about an hour but still misses anything from from Tormato and Drama studio albums as well as the band's two live albums. It also misses Love Will Find A Way which was the band's last hit for Atlantic. Adding two or three additional songs from the missing albums would've made this feel more inclusive.
