Review by Toytoy Tan

Toots Thielemans' album Spotlight is a masterpiece of jazz harmonica. The album features a collection of tracks that showcase the Belgian musician's virtuosity on the instrument, as well as his ability to collaborate with other musicians across different genres.

The opening track, "Hard to Say Goodbye," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its smooth, bluesy melody and Thielemans' effortless playing. The album also includes collaborations with jazz luminaries such as Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, as well as pop icons like Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder.

One standout track is "The Peacocks," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that features Thielemans' harmonica weaving in and out of a lush piano accompaniment. Another highlight is "Bluesette," a classic Thielemans composition that showcases his ability to create intricate melodies and harmonies on the harmonica.
