Review by Jacqueline

Oradour by Stahlwerk 9 is a haunting and powerful album that delves into the tragic history of the French village of Oradour-sur-Glane, which was destroyed by the Nazis in 1944. The album is a blend of dark ambient, industrial, and neoclassical music, with elements of spoken word, samples, and field recordings.

The album opens with "Le Village Fantôme," a haunting track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The use of field recordings, including the sound of a ticking clock and distant church bells, creates a sense of unease and foreboding. This is followed by "Le Massacre," a track that features samples of speeches by Nazi leaders, interspersed with sounds of gunfire and screams.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Les Ruines," which features a mournful piano melody and eerie choir vocals, and "Le Silence," which uses sparse percussion and haunting synths to create a sense of desolation.

Summary by Jacqueline

Oradour is a deeply moving album that pays tribute to the victims of one of the most horrific atrocities of World War II. Stahlwerk 9's use of different musical styles and techniques creates a sense of unease and tension that is both powerful and unsettling. This is a must-listen for fans of dark ambient and industrial music.
