Septic Flesh - Communion

Review by Janice Roberg

Septic Flesh's album Communion is a masterpiece of symphonic death metal that showcases the band's virtuosity and epic songwriting skills. The album features a dense, cinematic sound that seamlessly blends orchestral arrangements with crushing metal riffs and thunderous drums.

Communion opens with the haunting "Lovecraft's Death," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its eerie, atmospheric intro and explosive chorus. Other standout tracks include "Anubis," a bombastic anthem that features a choir of demonic voices, and "Sunlight/Moonlight," a dynamic, multi-part epic that showcases the band's ability to create complex, sprawling compositions.

Throughout the album, Septic Flesh's musicianship is on full display, with guitarist Christos Antoniou delivering blistering solos and keyboardist Sotiris Vayenas adding rich, cinematic textures to the arrangements. Vocalist Spiros Antoniou's growling, guttural vocals add a brutal edge to the music, while the orchestral elements give the songs a sense of grandeur and drama.

Comments

As much as I like the songs on this album, I wish they would've done better transitions between songs, so it flows better... like a concept album.
This album is a masterpiece of a composition.
GREATNESS ???
Monstrous monument to the muse
"YOOOOO.... CUNTS!"
This is what modern Behemoth wish to sound like in 2022
Just named my linguistics course presentation group after this album ???
I think I like the songs in the over albums more overall in general, but Communion has to have the best vocals. It's like he just gets himself possessed by a demon in the recording booth and then speaks.
This is perfect mastery, width and depth of sound and music. And also a wonderful statue. Much better than the other conceptions of the Baphomet. Perhaps a more "right" version of one. That thing looks very serious. Although I guess it's also called an Annubis.
