Saito Koji - Yes

Review by Wes Wolfe

Saito Koji's album Yes is a mesmerizing collection of ambient tracks that showcase the artist's unique ability to create ethereal soundscapes. The album features six tracks, each with its own distinct vibe and mood. From the opening track "Yes" to the closing track "Good Night," Saito Koji takes the listener on a journey through a world of dreamy soundscapes that are both calming and introspective.

The album is characterized by its minimalist approach to music-making, with each track consisting of a few simple elements that are repeated and layered to create a complex and immersive soundscape. Saito Koji's use of guitar, piano, and field recordings adds a naturalistic element to the music, and the subtle use of effects and processing gives the tracks a sense of depth and texture.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "You," which features a haunting piano melody over a bed of ambient textures. The track builds slowly, adding layers of sound until it reaches a crescendo of lush, shimmering sound. Another highlight is "Blue," which features a delicate guitar melody that is gradually enveloped by a swirling mass of sound.

Notes

  • It is Saito Koji-time again. He worked with labels like Kokeshidisk, Somehow Recordings, SEM ,
  • taâlem, Magic Book Records, Kesh Recordings, Gears of Sand Recordings, Median Recordings
  • and element perspective. And he already released eight previous releases via Resting Bell.
  • His latest contribution to the Resting Bell-catalog is really huge. It is a five hour work.
  • 16 titles with a duration of 4:33 minutes each and five long forms with 39 minutes to 48 minutes.
  • The sixteen short tracks play with a distorted and rough tone. Little guitar miniatures are hidden
  • under a dense curtain of hiss and dust. The long forms are coming with a cleaner guitar sound,
  • playing with extrem short patterns, soft droning waves or swirling melodies.
  • Enjoy this massive work and thanks a lot for this wonderfull contribution, Saito.
