The Feelies - What Goes On

Review by Queen Mecca

The Feelies' 1985 release What Goes On showcases the band's unique blend of post-punk and jangly guitar pop. The album's opening track, "It's Only Life," sets the tone with its driving rhythm and catchy guitar hooks. Throughout the album, the band explores themes of love, loss, and the human experience with introspective lyrics and intricate instrumentals.

Tracks like "The High Road" and "Doin' It Again" demonstrate the band's ability to create dynamic and energetic rock songs, while "Let's Go" and "For Now" showcase their more subdued and contemplative side. The album's title track, a cover of the Velvet Underground classic, is a standout with its hypnotic guitar riffs and pulsing rhythm section.

digital music age annoying sometimes. guess there's a rights issue cuz this has never been on shitty spotify (sorry musicians but unpopular opinion: my general comfort is more important than royalty disagreements and maybe musicians were making too much money before)
One of the best covers ever. My second favorite band doing a song by my first!
one of mi fav new wave guitar bands
I saw them play in Tucson in 1988. I like their tune “Away”
Bravo!

Thought it was a Beatles cover though.
Tight. Methadone Velvet .
The Feelies may be the ultimate example of the best ever obscure band . Some of the most hypnotic rock music in 80s came from this band and they are still active.
So good.
Amazing
Saw them so many times in Hoboken and NYC in the 90s...
I think i'm always falling down!
? ?
The Feelies. What a great band! Still listening to them some 40+ years on...
Wow..they really nailed 'the ostrich' guitar sound! A truly worthy cover of one of Lou's greatest early songs. Fab.
At time... (80s..) that band was a surprise to me.
Today i try to have all records that i find.
Its.....☺
I can't believe I've got to my advanced years and only recently discovered this excellent band!? Always  loved the Velvets and this is the 2nd band I've heard doing an excellent job of covering one of their tracks this week, The other being a f**king wonderful version of 'Pale Blue Eyes' by The Kills, which if you've not heard, I would strongly suggest doing so!Huge thanks for sharing this  Guyitho, really  like it a lot.
BON SANG!!!!
Im new to discover The Feelies.. Imagine my delight to find they've covered one of my favourite songs.
Nice Lou Reed imitation. If I hadn't known it was by The Feelies I would have thought it was actually a demo by the Velvet Underground.
Mercer and Million, literally unrecognizable in the pic at the start.
