New Race - Crying Sun Gotta Keep Movin

Review by Nuril Asfar

New Race's latest album, Crying Sun Gotta Keep Movin, is a masterful blend of punk rock and garage rock that will have listeners headbanging and singing along from start to finish. The album opens with the fast-paced and energetic "Crying Sun," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. The guitars are loud and distorted, the drums are thunderous, and the vocals are raw and passionate.

Tracks like "We Are the Ones," "The Last Wave," and "It's So Easy" are equally catchy and memorable, featuring infectious hooks and sing-along choruses. The band's punk rock roots are on full display on tracks like "Transit of Venus Blues" and "Wanted Man," which are fast, furious, and full of attitude.

The album's production is top-notch, with every instrument and vocal perfectly balanced and mixed. The band's chemistry is undeniable, and it's clear that they had a blast recording this album.

About New Race

Conceived by , the New Race project was intended to be a one off project that introduced Deniz' Detroit music friends to Australia and vice versa. They toured Australia in 1981, and recorded a live album, The First and the Last (1982). The music was hard, fast rock and featured Detroit legends Ron Asheton () on guitar, Dennis Thompson () on the drums together with 3 ex players, Deniz on guitar, Rob Younger on vocals and Warwick Gilbert on bass, with Chris Masuak guesting at some shows. They played a set of songs derived from The Stooges, MC5, Radio Birdman, the member's current bands and a song written jointly for the tour, Columbia. Miscommunications and financial troubles followed although most of the band members remain close friends.

Summary by Nuril Asfar

Crying Sun Gotta Keep Movin is a must-listen for fans of punk rock, garage rock, and rock and roll in general. It's a testament to the enduring power of guitar-driven music and a reminder that sometimes, all you need is a guitar, a drum kit, and a whole lot of attitude.
