About The Merry Macs
US close harmony (vocal) group, primarily active in the 1920s-1960s. Formed by the three McMichael brothers: tenors Judd (19061989) and Joe (19161944), and baritone Ted (19082001), they assumed the name The Merry Macs in 1933, when they added a female singer, Cheri McKay, and began recording for . In 1936, McKay was replaced by , in 1939 by . In 1938, the group switched to recording with ; soon, they also began to appear in movies. The group continued recording, with changing personnel, until 1964.
