Review by Bella-Marie Bubb

The Bells The Rain by Marquees is an album that captures the essence of classic rock with a modern twist. The band's unique sound is a blend of powerful vocals, intricate guitar riffs, and a dynamic rhythm section that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish.

The album opens with "Wildfire," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its driving beat and catchy chorus. "When You're Gone" is a standout track, featuring a soaring guitar solo and emotive vocals that tug at the heartstrings. "The Bells The Rain" is a haunting ballad that showcases the band's ability to create a mood with their music.

Throughout the album, Marquees demonstrates their versatility as musicians, seamlessly transitioning from hard-hitting rockers to introspective ballads. "Let Me Down Easy" is a bluesy track that features some impressive guitar work, while "Broken Glass" is a slower, more contemplative song that showcases the band's lyrical prowess.

Grand Records 141 -- The Marquees -- The Bells / The Rain -- 1956.
According to recent paperwork discovered in the Grand Records archives, The Dreamers consisted of: Buddy Nolan, Robert Mott (aka Tony Hodges), Kent Peeler, Leroy Sproul, Mitchell Stevens and Harry Palters or Salters. Dreamers member Buddy Nolan is credited to writing both songs "The Bells" and "The Rain" recorded by The Markees/Marquees which means that both groups could be the same or share members.
I love this record. I still play it. Philly finest. Thank you for sharing.
