SOUL FOR SOULFUL SOULS✊?
In my topic of the best soul songs of the 60s
WMPP radio Chicago Hgts, Il.
I first heard this in 1966 when I was 19 years old, that summer in August my brother used to sing it and play his guitar. Many years later, I tried to find this song, but couldn't remember the artist. In the 2000's my son found Little Miltons version which was wonderful too, but I said that don't sound like the man I remember but I was trilled to just hear it again after so many many years, then in 2016 or 17 I was scrolling YouTube and there it was by Jimmy Holiday and as I listened it was like being in a time machine It was the voice I remembered, what a great thrill and I also was double thrilled to find the other lost record he made How can I Forget. What a great dicovery, thanks to YouTube
On this day in 1966 {August 28th} "Baby I Love You" by Jimmy Holiday entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart for a one week stay, at position #98...
And on September 4th, 1966 it peaked at #21 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart...
The Mississippi soul singer had one other Top 100 hit, "How Can I Forget
