Jack Guthrie - Oklahoma Hills

Review by Trina DePauw

Jack Guthrie's album Oklahoma Hills is a timeless classic that captures the essence of the American West. The album features Guthrie's signature blend of country, folk, and blues, with a touch of rockabilly thrown in for good measure. The songs are all heartfelt and honest, and Guthrie's vocals are warm and inviting.

The title track, "Oklahoma Hills," is a standout, with its haunting melody and poetic lyrics about the beauty and hardship of life on the plains. Other standout tracks include "I'm a Brandin' My Darlin' with My Heart," a rollicking honky-tonk number, and "Milk Cow Blues," a classic blues tune that Guthrie makes his own.

I play this song every time I perform insurance fraud.
God Bless Hank Thompson.
But Jack Guthries version Please Konrad play this when I've moved on...
This song may have new timeliness now that half of Oklahoma has effectively been made a reservation by the Supreme Court. I had to seek out this song as soon as I heard that news story today.
Here’s a great live version by Hot Club of Cowtown: https://youtu.be/-trQkHPz-QE
Yep...grew up with this song. Daddy was a okie and I spent many summers there. Nothing like chiggers, ticks and swimming in Muddy Buggy Creek. Missed those day!
Just trying to find in all version of this song
Amazing channel, congrats God bless you!
Bless your soul Jack. I played your song 45 years ago. Thank you Mr. Guthrie and long live
I am so blessed that my father's spirit yet remains, even though his body is gone.
Always good to hear great tunes from local talent!
I grew up listening to my father sing this song!!  He was born and raised near Admore OK, his mother born on the Res (before it was stolen from them). Wow.. sometimes I can still here him singin' this song as I work my cattle.  Then I sing along... as cowboys sing to their doggies to let them know they are safe.
Cousin of fellow Oklahoman Woody Guthrie
My ex-wife's Grandfather.
Such a great and catchy tune! I love that guitar!
