The album Wiggins Wiggins, a collaboration between jazz pianist Gerry Wiggins and bassist Hassan Shakur, is a delightful blend of classic jazz tunes and original compositions. The album features a range of moods and styles, from the upbeat swing of "The Champ" to the soulful ballad "I Remember Clifford".
Wiggins' virtuosic piano playing is matched by Shakur's solid bass lines, creating a tight and cohesive sound that is both sophisticated and accessible. The duo's chemistry is evident throughout the album, with each musician complementing the other's playing.
One standout track is "Oscar's Blues", a tribute to jazz legend Oscar Peterson. Wiggins' tribute to Peterson is both respectful and playful, with nods to Peterson's signature style and a few surprises thrown in.
