Beethoven Daniel Barenboim Otto Klemperer - Die Fünf Klavierkonzerte Chorfantasie

Review by Wankyu Choi

The album Die Fünf Klavierkonzerte Chorfantasie by Beethoven, performed by Daniel Barenboim and conducted by Otto Klemperer, is a stunning collection of five piano concertos and one choral fantasy. The performances are masterful, with Barenboim's virtuosic playing perfectly complemented by Klemperer's skilled conducting.

The first concerto, in C major, is a joyous and energetic piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The second concerto, in B-flat major, is a more contemplative and introspective work, showcasing Barenboim's ability to convey a wide range of emotions through his playing.

The third concerto, in C minor, is perhaps the most famous of the five, with its dramatic opening and powerful themes. Barenboim's playing is intense and passionate, perfectly capturing the spirit of the piece.

The fourth concerto, in G major, is a lighter and more playful work, with Barenboim's nimble fingers dancing across the keys. The final concerto, in E-flat major, is a majestic and grandiose piece that brings the album to a triumphant close.

The choral fantasy, which features the Westminster Choir, is a beautiful and uplifting work that showcases Beethoven's skill as a composer of choral music. Barenboim's playing is once again flawless, perfectly complementing the choir's soaring voices.

German composer and pianist, born in 1770 (baptized 17 December 1770) in Bonn, Germany and died 26 March 1827 in Vienna, Austria. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in classical music. Beethoven led Viennese Classicism to its highest development and paved the way for Romantic music. Beethoven was the eldest son of a singer in the Kapelle of the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne and grandson of the Archbishop's Kapellmeister. He moved in 1792 to Vienna, where he had some lessons from Haydn and others, quickly establishing himself as a remarkable keyboard-player and original composer. By 1815 increasing deafness made public performance impossible and accentuated existing eccentricities of character, patiently tolerated by a series of rich patrons and his royal pupil the Archduke Rudolph. Beethoven did much to enlarge the possibilities of music and widen the horizons of later generations of composers. To his contemporaries he was sometimes a controversial figure, making heavy demands on listeners both by the length and by the complexity of his writing, as he explored new fields of music.

When I was an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, I would go to concerts every week given by the Professors in the College of Music. This is where I learned to appreciate the classical music of the great composers Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Vivaldi, Wagner, Grieg, Strauss, and many more
O Beethoven, my Beethoven....
How gentle a man can be....
..ein gelungenes Werk des frühen Beethoven!..aber nach dem Recht der Russischen Föderation ist die Seite verboten, was ein weiterer Wahnsinn ist..
Thank you, interesting interpretation, I also like this one

Beautiful music, but the music should be your priority, not interrupting it three times with commercials... I’ll go elsewhere to listen to my music.
