Review by Amit Sharma

Everything Is Good Here Please Come Home is the fifth studio album by Angels of Light, the musical project of Michael Gira, best known as the frontman of the influential experimental rock band Swans. Released in 2003, the album marked a departure from the more abrasive and chaotic sound of Swans, and showcased Gira's songwriting skills in a more intimate and introspective setting.

The album features a mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation, with Gira's deep and resonant voice at the forefront of the mix. The songs are characterized by their haunting melodies, sparse arrangements, and poetic lyrics that explore themes of love, loss, and redemption.

From the opening track "Palisades", with its gentle acoustic guitar and mournful strings, to the closing ballad "The Man We Left Behind", with its soaring harmonies and delicate piano, Everything Is Good Here Please Come Home is a masterful work of art that rewards repeated listens.

About The Angels Of Light

The Angels of Light was formed in 1997 by singer / guitarist Michael Gira after he disbanded Swans, the group he'd founded in 1982. The band plays in a distinctly different style for Gira since he left Swans, being mostly acoustic, folkier, musically more melodic and less brutal than his previous efforts, though no less emotionally draining. The Angels of Light include many New York City collaborators, including Dana Schechter of Bee and Flower, Kid Congo Powers of The Cramps, Larry Mullins aka Toby Dammit, Bliss Blood of The Moonlighters, Thor Harris of Shearwater (band), and most recently the Brooklyn band Akron/Family.

Summary by Amit Sharma

Fans of Swans may be surprised by the more restrained and melodic approach of Angels of Light, but those who appreciate Gira's unique vision and uncompromising artistry will find much to admire in this album. It is a testament to the power of music to evoke emotion and transcend boundaries, and a reminder that sometimes the most profound statements are made in the quietest moments.
