Review by Olga Bowman

The Train Night Train, the latest album by Wolfgang Sauer, is a stunning tribute to the blues and jazz genres. The album comprises ten tracks, each with its unique flavour and style. From the opening track, "Night Train," to the closing number, "The Train," the listener is taken on a musical journey that is both nostalgic and contemporary.

Sauer's guitar playing is nothing short of exceptional. He demonstrates his mastery of the instrument throughout the album, showcasing his ability to play both soulful and upbeat tunes with ease. The rhythm section, featuring bassist John Smith and drummer Tom Brown, is equally impressive, adding depth and texture to each track.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Blues for Joe." This slow, melancholic tune showcases Sauer's ability to convey emotion through his guitar playing. The track is a fitting tribute to Joe Pass, one of Sauer's biggest influences.

Another highlight of the album is "Train to Memphis." This upbeat track features Sauer's intricate guitar work, accompanied by a swinging rhythm section. The track is a nod to the rockabilly sound of the 1950s and is sure to get listeners tapping their feet.
