TV On The Radio - OK Calculator

Review by Declan Magill

OK Calculator, the third studio album by American indie rock band TV On The Radio, is a musical masterpiece that showcases the band's unique and experimental sound. Released in 2002, the album is a collection of songs that blend elements of indie rock, electronica, and hip-hop, resulting in a sound that is both innovative and captivating.

The album opens with the track "Hours," a slow-burning song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The haunting vocals and atmospheric instrumentation create a sense of tension and unease, drawing the listener in and preparing them for the journey ahead.

As the album progresses, the songs become more complex and layered, with tracks like "The Wrong Way" and "Bomb Yourself" showcasing the band's ability to seamlessly blend different genres and styles. The use of electronic instruments and samples adds a futuristic and experimental edge to the music, while the lyrics explore themes of technology, isolation, and the human condition.

The instrumentation is great, it’s just too bad that the singing isn’t very good. Kinda wish there was an instrumental version.

Nevermind, sex professor.
Their most sophisticated and relishing song to date!
They have the instrumentation down perfect. They have the melody. Now they just need to sing in key. They should really re-do this song in a real studio, it would sound great.
I agree. Tv on the Radio only has a few good songs, and this one kicks ass.
Lawnmower brake lights
Ok Calculator is such a criminally underrated album
Do what I do, Go to cocktail parties and just start telling it like this is real. If you told it well enough, someone ELSE later on will tell you it too."
For some reason this reminds me of the song Gale Boetticher sings in Breaking Bad.
"DJ Bullshit conducting..."

You gotta love it.
freaky geniuses!
my favourite album.
but i love everything they do (included rain machine's work of course)
really? i had to double check i downloaded the right album caus it was SO bad. 90% of the songs are just stupid noises.
Now that I’ve listened to this whole thing, one of the best TVOTR songs. Just so much fun experimentation here! Love it!
where does Gina get it in the face or in the mouth. LOL
