Review by Jay Hall

Tommy Cash's latest album, Tobacco Road, is a captivating collection of country tunes that showcases his impressive vocal range and songwriting skills. The album opens with the title track, a nostalgic ode to the rural South that sets the tone for the rest of the record. From there, Cash takes listeners on a journey through heartbreak ("Rise and Shine"), redemption ("I'm Going to Memphis"), and everything in between.

The standout track on the album is "The Only Ones," a haunting ballad that showcases Cash's ability to convey emotion through his voice. The song builds slowly, with Cash's vocals and acoustic guitar gradually joined by a mournful fiddle and a simple drumbeat. By the time the chorus hits, it's impossible not to be moved.

Other highlights include the rollicking "That's How I Got to Memphis," the twangy "The Cowboy and the Lady," and the bluesy "What Kind of Man." Throughout the album, Cash's lyrics are packed with vivid imagery and clever wordplay, making each song a joy to listen to.
