Thelma Houston's 2005 album, "Don't Leave Me This Way," is a soulful collection of tracks that showcases the singer's powerful vocals and emotional range. From the upbeat and funky "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning" to the heartfelt ballad "I Just Want to Be With You," Houston delivers a stunning performance on every track.
The album's title track, a cover of the disco classic originally recorded by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, is a standout moment. Houston's version is a bit slower and more soulful than the original, but she still manages to capture the song's infectious energy and make it her own.
Other highlights include the jazzy "I've Got the Music in Me" and the bluesy "Everybody's Got a Story." Houston's voice is perfectly suited to these genres, and she proves herself to be a versatile and dynamic performer throughout the album.
