Necrotic Doom, the debut album from Spectral Voice, is a crushing and atmospheric journey through the depths of death metal. The Colorado-based band has crafted a sound that is both menacing and hypnotic, with a focus on slow, churning riffs and eerie, otherworldly melodies.
The album's opening track, "Thresholds Beyond," sets the tone with its ominous, droning guitars and distant, cavernous vocals. From there, the band builds on this foundation with tracks like "Visions of Psychic Dismemberment" and "Lurking Gloom," which feature crushing, mid-paced riffs and haunting, echoing vocals.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Terminal Exhalation," which begins with a haunting, atmospheric intro before launching into a frenzied assault of blast beats and tremolo-picked riffs. The track's chanted vocals and ominous, dissonant guitar lines only add to its dark, foreboding atmosphere.
