Review by Rozalynne James

Vol 1 Whatd I Say by Ray Charles is a classic album that showcases the legendary musician's unique blend of soul, blues, and gospel music. The album features some of Ray Charles' most iconic tracks, including "What'd I Say," "I Got a Woman," and "Hallelujah I Love Her So." Each song is infused with Charles' signature style, which combines his soulful vocals with a driving rhythm section and a horn section that adds depth and texture to the music.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "What'd I Say," which is widely regarded as one of Charles' greatest hits. The song features a hypnotic groove that builds to an explosive climax, and Charles' impassioned vocals are a testament to his incredible talent as a performer. Another highlight of the album is "I Got a Woman," which is an upbeat and energetic track that showcases Charles' ability to blend gospel music with R&B.

In the 'Blues Brothers', "You can put that guitar back"!!
Avec cette chanson
Au paradis tu dois mettre feu LOL
Just came back here to watch this after watching the clip from Viva Las Vegas of Elvis and Ann Margaret ruining this classic and making me feel like vomiting. Elvis turned it into a pop tune with the up tempo and key change. The producer also sterilized the call and response section, making it less sexy of course lol
Ray charles was ladies man❤❤
00:54 R.Ch. was the inventor of pop out tongue-ing before mick jagger
One thing I always liked about Ray Charles is that his style is a healthy mix of blues and rock. He manages to keep the rhythm and feel of blues, while utilizing a rock sound and volume. One of the many things that made him stand out as an artist.
Happy Birthday Ray Charles ?

I was so lucky to see Ray Charles play at the Hilton in Reno when I was a teenager.  He made all the trains in Reno change their schedule for his appearance, because he didn't want his music meddled with choo-choo trains.  He is an idol...love you Ray.
of a tour bro ! that day " a tour one bro "
On this day in 1965 {May 19th} Ray Charles performed "What'd I Say"* on the ABC-TV program 'Shindig!"...
Six years earlier on July 6th, 1959 "What'd I Say" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #82; six weeks later on August 17th, 1959 it would peak at #6 {for 3 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for 15 weeks...
Two weeks before peaking at #6 on the Top 100 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart; it was the fifth of his twelve #1 records on the R&B Singles chart......
It also peaked at #6 {for 1 week} on Cashbox's Singles chart...
* "What'd I Say" was performed during the closing credits with back-up vocals provided by the Righteous Bros. and the Blossoms...
Ray Charles was sometimes called, "The Genius of Soul".  I wish someone would post the bit on Saturday Night Live, in which he sang "What I Say" at the end.  This is my favorite Ray song.
