Noah Gundersen - White Noise

Review by Chandrakanth Natekar

Noah Gundersen's 2017 album, White Noise, is a haunting and introspective journey through the mind of the singer-songwriter. The album's title is fitting, as there is a constant sense of static and dissonance that runs throughout the tracks. Gundersen's voice is raw and emotive, and his lyrics are deeply personal and introspective.

The album opens with "After All (Everything All the Time)," a slow-burning ballad that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Gundersen's voice is accompanied by sparse instrumentation, creating a sense of intimacy that draws the listener in. "The Sound" is another standout track, with its haunting melody and lyrics that explore the idea of finding meaning in a world that can often feel chaotic and meaningless.

Other highlights include "Heavy Metals," which features a driving beat and a soaring chorus, and "Cocaine, Sex & Alcohol (From a Basement in Los Angeles)," which is a stripped-down acoustic track that showcases Gundersen's songwriting skills. The album closes with "Send the Rain (To Everyone)," a beautiful and melancholic ballad that leaves the listener with a sense of catharsis.

Ok so it's taken me a couple months to get used to his new sound. But I love it now! I'll never stop loving Noah! My fave musician of all time. I love all his music I'll never not love his older stuff, it's special. So excited to listen to his journey. Keep going Noah! xx
Can u do an audio for send the rain(to everyone)
2:57 onward makes my chest heavy and throat tight
Wow I want to eat this guitar solo for breakfast
The bridge in this song may be one of my favorite things you've wrote. Incredible melodically, lyrically and emotionally. So stoked on this record.
Lyrics:

For some rumors passing time
I tap the radio wire
Nothing happened down the line

Only human after all
Every impulse calls
Automatic animals

Hold your breath
Count to ten
You’ve got a lot to learn yet

(Na na na na na na)

Only askin’ half as much
More than twice enough
Fever dreamers out of touch
Yeah

(Na na na na na na)
(Na na na na na na)

For some reason I can trust
All I thought it was
Heavy metals still with rust
Every empire turns to dust

Only love lives in their place
Only silence and time break
Time upon time
Only infinite black space
Three words on the whole page
All your life, hey
Only love left in their place
Only silence and time break
Time upon time
Only infinite black space
Three words on the whole page
All your life

Hold your breath
Count to ten
You’ve got a lot to learn yet

Honestly, I was a big fan of your old acoustic style and i'm finding this new sound ver y amusing . Keep it up noah , changes and musical growth are necessary. Don't get stuck in a particular sound and experiment as much as you want so you don't lose your apetite for music. Loving this. Cheers from Spain, hope to see you here soon
I can not stop listening to this song! I seriously can't wait for the album to be released.
I like old Noah better, but this is a great track. So is Bad Desire.
I fell in love with this immediately
Can't wait for 22nd man
i love the filter on the drums in the verses. super cool robot effect on the vox too. i really like this.
Noah Gundersen is up there with U2 and Cat Stevens in terms of most quality songs... Just my opinion.
Can't wait! Just a week from now on, Nummer 1 of my bucketlist to hear & see Noah play live!
Come to Chico Ca. Get ahold of Floater and play the same weekend. Is what I say to myself as I type as if you might actually read my comment.
il miss the old style, but im looking forward to the new one
