The Nectarine No9 - Niagara Falls

Review by Pioneer Inn And Suites

Nectarine No9's album Niagara Falls is a compelling and engaging piece of work that showcases the band's unique blend of indie rock and pop sensibilities. The album is a cohesive and well-crafted collection of songs that are both catchy and thought-provoking.

The opening track, "The Raincoats of Cherbourg," sets the tone for the album with its jangly guitars and infectious melody. From there, the album moves seamlessly from one track to the next, each one offering something new and exciting.

One standout track is "Saint Jack," with its driving rhythm and soaring chorus. The song has an anthemic quality that makes it a perfect choice for the album's lead single.

Another highlight is "The Love of Richard Nixon," which showcases the band's ability to mix political commentary with catchy pop hooks. The song is a scathing critique of the former US president, and it is delivered with just the right amount of wit and humor.

Epic
Stoddy aceing it.
HOW I WISH THIS GUY HAD BEEN IN MY CLASS AT SKOOL AND WE'D WENT TO SEE BANDS LIKE GOLDEN EARRING AND MET RONNIE VAN ZANDT WHO WAS SUPPORTING THEM WITH HIS COMBO LYNYRD SKYNYRD! OR JUMPED ON A TRAIN TO GO SEE STATUS QUO AT THE APOLLO IN THE MID SEVENTIES! THE PRINCE CHARMING OF SCOTTISH POP - LUV YA BABY!
I like this song.
Pic is 7" cover, but this is the 'Saint Jack' version. Aces anyhow.
well, VU kind of sort of *did* cover it, albeit in the form of the Cale/Reed arrangement on Nico's "Chelsea Girls" -- which while not technically a VU release, is the next best thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_z_UEuEMAo
Discovered this today when BBC Radio 6 played a John Peel session from 1994. How did I not know The Nectarine No 9 back in the day? Am in love with this tune. So beautiful and melancholy. VU could not have done it better :)
Nico did a shit hot version........
