Review by Christ Compassion

Lonnie Donegan's album Muleskinner Blues is a timeless piece of music that showcases the artist's talent and passion for blues and folk music. The album features a mix of traditional blues and folk songs, as well as some of Donegan's own compositions, all performed with his signature style and energy.

From the opening track "Muleskinner Blues" to the closing number "Frankie and Johnny," Donegan's voice and guitar work are a joy to listen to. His renditions of classic songs like "St. James Infirmary" and "John Henry" are particularly impressive, showcasing his ability to put his own spin on traditional material.

The album also features some lesser-known tracks that are just as enjoyable, such as "I'm Alabammy Bound" and "I'm Just a Rolling Stone." Donegan's skillful guitar playing and heartfelt vocals make each track a standout.

Does Anyone have "I remember those Spanish Nights" about a washed up musician remeniscing? I can't find it on any platform.
We need talking about kevin
Me encanta, esto si es música
We need to talk about Kevin
Whenever you have scarlet red paint splashed all over your windshield, this is the song to play top volume on your way to work.
I think this velvet underground
Lynn Ramsay's choice of country music for this scene is quite ironic : this is the kind of "happy together" family music you're supposed to listen humming at it while driving with your kids...here it only enphasizes the fact that the mother is alone in the station wagon; like Buddy Holly "Everyday" song, typical "feel good" music but here it is symbolic of loneliness and feeling deprivation (the guy at work listen to it on a walkman while hoovering or, even worse, when there is another party going on around him); thus the feeling of dereliction is at same time dramatic and grotesque ; brillant movie indeed !
Wooooooow, I was born in 47 and I remember that sound!!!! It starts me freezing coming up with this sound and feelings!!!!
This song would be one for Keith....!!!! Think he`ll enjoys it, but Mick wouldn`t match that with his voice hahaha!!!
Scottish legend! Rip lonnie lad
I wondered if Mike pender serchers heard of this song it sounds like country
Just saw a 5 year old comment below ......... re Mule Skinner Blues Donegan / Morrison version .

Go to BBC ... RADIO ... search for GEOFF BARKER then select the Jerry JI Allison show ................ slide the cursor along to 1:24:00 ................ then if you want record via Audacity.
Got here by way of "Kevin"!
How were these uploaded in 2009 when the movie came out in 2010/2011 :? Either way, bless your soul uploader :)
skiffle will never be the same after we need to talk about kevin.
lonnie donegan is some sort of music god after i heard him from that poor mothers perspective. the ham n eggs scene (she's driving work after all the mess)  breaks the hardest of hearts
We need talk about Kevin <3 Ezra
The best version of this is actually done by Joe D. Gibson on Tetra records in 1959. Dolly Parton has the best version closest to the original country song.
Distort?, it's added a whole new dimension of fun!
I'm in your debt.
Sorry. Didn't mean to distort the song for you.
Oh bugger. I can't listen to this now, or indeed any take, without 'Fuckin' Water'.

The more I listen, the more I hear it. :¬) Certainly adds a new dimension to the song.

'Fetch that water fucking round' just before the 'Good morning captain's that finish the track too.
Is it just me, or when he says "set that water bucket down
listen to his later version with Albert lee on guitar
This song makes we wanna practice my archery skills...
The version with Val Morrison is even better. But not on YT yet, as far as I can see.
What a fantastic advert for British rock n roll - long before the Beatles and probably before Cliff. This tune was played by the great John Peel not long before he passed away - he always had great musical taste and Lonnie was one of his heroes.
