I still like his music, even though he's shown himself to me personally as being an arrogant little show biz shit. Cheap too.
This song is from the first track off the 1961 LP "A Portrait of Johnny". It was originally released as a single, but the song peaked at #25 on the Billboard's Hot 100 charts.
@kweju3 I so agree with you. Johnny Mathis has EVERYTHING, that a singer could possibly have. That is why we fans all over the world love him so much. I cannot get enough of him, with his young voice-as here, but also with his todays-voice.He could have had great sucsess on any opera-sceen, I am sure. There is such a lot of "trash-music" from all over, but singing like this, in such manner and with these songs is the real thing. Thank you. From Norway: Berit
Could not agree more with kvveju3. Thus, no more need to said. San Francisco, 5/27/12
Unfortunately, the younger generation is being fed a diet of nonmusical, vocally untalented, untrained noise. The antipathy of true music. Considering Mathis' projection of vocal perfection one get's a sense of failure to discipline, train and strive for the best in many of today's performers. Maybe we should clone some Mathis genes?
Not a bad idea. :-)
Then we would always get good lyrics and nice music soothing to ears, not ear-splitting noise.
