Review by عماد السعدني

Illinois Jacquet's album "Jazz By Jacquet" is a beautiful collection of tunes that showcases the saxophonist's exceptional talent and creativity. Released in 1955, the album features Jacquet playing with a talented ensemble that includes musicians such as Kenny Burrell, Roy Eldridge, and Jo Jones.

The album opens with the upbeat and energetic "Robbins' Nest," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Jacquet's saxophone playing is virtuosic, with his smooth and fluid lines weaving in and out of the other instruments. The album also features some slower, more contemplative tunes, such as "Slow Down Baby" and "Illinois Blows the Blues."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Port of Rico," which features Jacquet's soaring saxophone lines over a Latin-tinged rhythm section. The track is a perfect showcase for Jacquet's ability to blend different musical styles and create something truly unique.
