The LIVE album by Igor Willcox Quartet is a stunning display of the band's musical prowess. The quartet, consisting of Igor Willcox on drums, Daniel Grajew on piano, Marcos Paiva on bass, and Vitor Alcântara on saxophone, delivers a captivating performance that showcases their virtuosity and chemistry as a group.
Recorded live at the JazzB São Paulo, the album features eight tracks that span a variety of styles and moods, from the upbeat and funky "Blues for K" to the introspective and melodic "Little Waltz". Each member of the quartet gets a chance to shine, with Willcox's dynamic drumming providing a solid foundation for the rest of the band's improvisations.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Mr. P.C.", a tribute to the legendary jazz bassist Paul Chambers. The quartet's interpretation of the classic John Coltrane tune is both respectful and inventive, with each member adding their own unique flair to the performance.
