I love the moon landing.
1969 was the year of the famous Apollo moon landing.
This record was released on MGM’s subsidiary label called MGM Merchandising Corp., and it was the same label that they reissued the soundtrack to “The Wizard of Oz” that same year for the 30th Anniversary of the film’s release from 1939. The label was short lived until 1970, but there were a few compilation albums that were released on the MGM Merchandising Corp. label between 1969 and 1970.
RIP: Hugh Downs ?
Amazing that $57 million a day ($21 Billion/yr) for NASA currently and we can't even get to 254 miles to the ISS but miraculously in 1969,in our first attempt and $5 Billion ($34 Billion today), we went 250,000 miles with zero issues. Miraculous i say.
I still have mine! Thank you for posting this, and happy 50th anniversary of the moon landing!
is this both sides?
It was also available in certain supermarkets at the time.
I listened to this recording a thousand times when I was a kid. It inspired my interest in flight.
Yes, the speech Kennedy gave at Rice University on September 12, 1962.
