Review by Panos Paganis

Houston's album Sally Bumper Mamas Cookin is a delightful blend of blues, rock, and soul. The album features the talented Houston on vocals and guitar, with a backing band that includes a horn section, keyboards, and drums. The songs on this album are all original compositions, and they range from upbeat, danceable numbers to slow, soulful ballads.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Sally Bumper Mama," a funky blues number that showcases Houston's guitar skills and his smooth vocals. The horn section adds a bright, jazzy flavor to the song, and the lyrics are fun and playful. Another great track is "Honey I Love You," a slow-burning ballad that features some beautiful guitar work and heartfelt vocals. The song builds slowly to a powerful climax, with Houston's voice soaring over the music.

About Houston

Rock band from Toronto Canada Michael Beechey - Drummer Michael Farrington - Bassist James Houston - Lead singer / guitarist Danny McCarthey - Keyboards The name "Houston" was apparently the front man and creative mainstay, responsible for penning most of the material. The quartet played on the Toronto club circuit for awhile before attracting the attention of the small Tuesday Records label. Their debut album was produced by Greg Hambleton and originally released by the small Canadian Tuesday label. Shelby Singleton somehow caught wind of the group, signing them to his independent SSS International label, reissuing their debut in the States (with a new, blander cover).
