The album Amália Hoje by Hoje is a tribute to the legendary Portuguese fado singer Amália Rodrigues. The album features new arrangements of some of Amália's most iconic songs, performed by a talented group of musicians including Carminho, Sara Tavares, and Ricardo Ribeiro.
The album opens with "Gaivota," a hauntingly beautiful rendition of one of Amália's most famous songs. The combination of Carminho's soulful voice and the delicate guitar work creates a mesmerizing atmosphere that captures the essence of fado.
Throughout the album, Hoje brings a fresh perspective to Amália's music, while still staying true to the traditional fado style. "Estranha Forma de Vida" is a standout track, with Sara Tavares' powerful vocals adding a new dimension to the song's melancholic lyrics.
The album also includes a few lesser-known songs from Amália's repertoire, such as "Foi Deus" and "Maria Lisboa." These songs are given new life through Hoje's innovative arrangements and the passionate performances by the artists.
