Review by Deirdre Oake-Scott

The album Quatuors Opus 77 by Haydn, performed by Quatuor Tatrai, is a masterful display of classical music at its finest. The four string quartets that make up the opus are played with precision and passion, showcasing the incredible skill of the musicians.

The first quartet, in G major, is a joyful and lively piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The second quartet, in F major, is more introspective and melancholy, but still beautifully executed by Quatuor Tatrai. The third quartet, in C major, is perhaps the most well-known of the opus, and is played with great energy and enthusiasm by the quartet. Finally, the fourth quartet, in B-flat major, is a fitting conclusion to the opus, with its complex harmonies and intricate melodies.

About Haydn, Quatuor Tatrai

Born: 1732-03-31 (Rohrau, Austria) Born 31 march or 1st April, 1732. Died: 1809-09-05 (Vienna, Austria). Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He brings the "sonata form" to a very high degree of improvement. His symphonies and his string quartets (forms of which he is considered "the father") have become highly inspirational style models. Haydn made a fundamental contribution to the development of chamber music; thanks to the numerous quartets, trios for piano, for strings and also with the unusual trios for baryton, viola and cello.
