Faust by Gounod Sutherland, Corelli, Ghiaurov, Bonynge is a classic album that showcases the talents of some of the most renowned opera singers of the 20th century. The album features a stunning performance by Joan Sutherland as Marguerite, with her soaring vocals and impeccable phrasing capturing the essence of the character's innocence and vulnerability.
The tenor Franco Corelli delivers a powerful performance as Faust, with his rich and expressive voice conveying the character's passion and despair. The basso Nicolai Ghiaurov brings depth and gravitas to the role of Mephistopheles, while the conductor Richard Bonynge masterfully guides the orchestra through the lush and romantic score.
One of the highlights of the album is the famous duet "O nuit d'amour" between Faust and Marguerite, which is performed with great tenderness and sensuality by Sutherland and Corelli.
