Go Pound Salt's self-titled album is a raw, energetic and unapologetic expression of rock 'n' roll. The band's sound is heavily influenced by classic punk and garage rock, with a healthy dose of blues and country twang thrown in for good measure.
From the opening track "Gimme More", the album grabs the listener by the throat and doesn't let go. The driving rhythm section and snarling vocals of frontman Johnny Salt are a perfect match for the blistering guitar work of lead guitarist Billy Pound. The songs are short, fast and to the point, with catchy hooks and sing-along choruses.
Highlights include the rowdy anthem "Nothin' to Lose", the bluesy stomp of "Black Cat Bone", and the punk rock fury of "Bad Attitude". The band also shows their softer side on the ballad "Lonely Road", which features some of Pound's most emotive guitar work.
