G H Elliott's album Plain Chocolate is a delightful collection of vintage music that takes listeners back in time. The album features the renowned music hall entertainer's signature style, which is characterized by his smooth and mellow voice, accompanied by the sounds of a piano and other traditional instruments.

The album features 25 tracks, all of which are classics from the early 20th century. The songs are arranged in a way that showcases Elliott's versatility as a performer, with tracks ranging from upbeat and energetic to slow and sentimental.

One standout track on the album is "Daisy Bell," which is a cheerful and catchy tune that will have listeners humming along in no time. Another notable track is "The Old Grey Mare," which is a humorous song that showcases Elliott's comedic timing and wit.

Comments

I had the refrain of Lily of Laguna in my head and came here to listen to it again. My mother used to sing this to me, but I had never heard a recording of the song. She would have been 13 when this was released, so very much the pop music of her day. She used to sing all the time to me when I was very young (1950s) and this was one of her favourites. Happy memories, thanks for uploading.
This is my first time hearing this and I will forever enjoy it from now on and it is hard to believe that this song is probably ninety two years old now too.
Great stuff. Sadly New Zealand Government made this illegal to listen to or distribute. Go Jacinda Ardern?
This Guy retired to Rottingdean, East Sussex. He named his house "Silvery Moon" . His tombstone was recently removed from his grave in the churchyard at Rottingdean for fear of vandalism from the black lives matter movement. It was inscribed with his Music Hall billing " The Chocolate Coloured Coon". The stone has since been replaced, simply saying " The Final Curtain"
George Henry Elliott a true Gentlemen and star!
POV: you listen to music hall and vaudeville music, but all the comments are from some high school or something
Racist
An absolute joy to hear both of these great songs as recorded by this great artiste
Thanks for this incredible singer and recording.
Love listening to this.
Mum born 1909. Said her uncle sang it to her when she was a little girl….We thought it was so apt…
When I was in a song & dance group in the 1950's this was one of my solo's..
We are the Navy Blues
We are the old dark navy blues
We’re the team that never lets you down
We’re the only team all Carlton knows.

With all the champions
They like to send us
We’ll keep our ends up
And they’ll know that they have been playing
Against the famous old dark Blues!
WE ARE THE NAVY BLUES!
I like the yodelling bit. Carlton should keep this one but add yodelling
Re Hagan’s b/s - the way you deal with sh!t-stirrers & rat-bags is tell them to f right off & get a life - end of story
