Review by Kenneth Mubu

Soul Cello by Fred Katz is a unique and captivating album that showcases the versatility and beauty of the cello. Katz, a renowned cellist and composer, infuses elements of jazz, blues, and soul into his compositions, creating a distinct and rich sound that is both soothing and energizing.

The album features ten tracks, each with its own distinct flavor and mood. From the upbeat and groovy "Blues for a Four-Stringer" to the hauntingly beautiful "Autumn Leaves", Katz's playing is masterful and emotive, transporting the listener to a world of pure musical bliss.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Soul Groove", a funky and soulful tune that showcases Katz's ability to infuse his classical training with modern influences. The track is a perfect example of the album's overall theme: the cello's versatility and ability to transcend genres and styles.
