Whirling Hall of Knives' second album, WHOK Lab Emissions Vol II, is a mesmerizing and intense sonic journey that showcases the Irish duo's experimental approach to electronic music. From the opening track, "Bleeding Out," the listener is plunged into a world of glitchy beats, distorted samples, and atmospheric textures that create a sense of disorientation and unease.
Tracks like "Riot Shield" and "Black Lodge" are relentless in their intensity, building layer upon layer of noise and feedback to create a wall of sound that is both overwhelming and exhilarating. Meanwhile, "Gone Native" and "Rotten Row" offer moments of respite, with their more subdued rhythms and ethereal melodies.
