Eyes Of Blue - Largo Crossroads Of Time

Review by enki wockeez

Eyes of Blue's Largo Crossroads of Time is a stunning album that showcases the band's exceptional musicianship and songwriting skills. The album features a blend of psychedelic and progressive rock, with intricate guitar riffs, soaring vocal harmonies, and groovy basslines.

The album's opening track, "Crossroads of Time," sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its trippy instrumental intro leading into a catchy chorus. "Prologue" and "Epilogue" serve as bookends to the album, with the former featuring haunting vocals and the latter closing the album on a peaceful note.

Other standout tracks include "Largo," a slow-burning ballad that builds to a powerful climax, and "Soul Trippin'," a funky number with a killer bassline. The album also includes a cover of The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby," which the band puts their own spin on.

About Eyes Of Blue

The Eyes Of Blue evolved during the mid-sixties from covers and R&B band The Mustangs, based in Neath, Wales, UK. The early line-up consisted of Wyndham Rees (Vocals), Ray Williams (Guitar), Ritchie Francis (Bass), Melvyn Davies (Guitar) and David Thomas (Drums). Thomas had replaced Byron Phillips in October 1964 a month before the change of name, and before too long Melvyn Davies also decided to leave, reducing the Eyes to a four-piece. Starting out as a soul-based R&B band the Eyes quickly established a strong reputation in the South Wales music scene. In Early in 1966 drummer Thomas was off and away, and John Weathers was drafted in as a temporary replacement. From another Neath based band - the Smokestacks - came keyboard player Phil Ryan, and vocalist Gary Pickford-Hopkins. L. Glas, short for Lygaid Glas, Eyes of Blue in Welsh, was used as writing credits on .
