One of the best performances they ever gave
THANKS FOR SHARING!
i have an old coworker who is in his 60s.  he was part of national lampoons magazine, lived across the street from the Fillmore in NYC.  can u imagine the memories he has.  he can be a little cocky but i would be too with that history.  definitely jealous
how so?
I always associate this song (The End) with the Jonestown mass suicide. It feels like something that would have been played during the administering of the Kool-aid. Something apocalyptic.
Fuck Me !!!! .......... Awesome !!!
Great American Band.....
Apocalypse now ....much later
jesus doesnt save anymore he gave up.
Youve got a point there!, When Jim left for Paris he wasnt on very good terms with the other three, i think they thought he'd sabotaged The Doors as a live act with being pissed 90% of the time. If there had been help for alcoholics in that era doubt Jim would have took it anyway! The remaining three didnt realise it at the time but the golden goose disappeared over the horizon to europe!!!
drugs and alchohol ruins everyone. if he could of just slowed down. he was the show, then became the joker. but it really was a disgrace that his band mates didn't stand up for there friend, yet prosper more now than before.......
the doors... transgression and desecration!
But Ray did know Jim. I don't mind Ray at all. I find his reminiscing refreshing in the sense that it tells an imaginative story about an era and a group who highlighted an era. As an outsider to that era, it feeds my imaginative sense. He's not lying about anything.
@1:44:00 - the drummer was clearly quite envious and out of place in the band. Ashame cuz the rest of the audience liked those lyrics...
Ray is an Aquarius and Jim was a Sagittarius - they were the best of friends and musicians (at times).
Realy great version of The end , wow , i wish to was there .
He just goes on and on and it all just sounds so rehearsed by now. It feels like he's that kid in school that - when the popular kid dies - he's the guy who never really knew him but says he knew him best.
I've never been so fussed with The Soft parade as an album, but my word the title track is bloody fantastic. Jim truly did operate as a shaman, transducing primordial cosmic energies like a channel, to convey...that we don't have to live the sedentary life, we can inform ourselves through direct experience. Know yourself, know your world. And what an empathic band he had with him on this journey, this is truly a terrific video, a treasure from the vaults. Bravo!
Whatever it is that you might listen to, just stay there, we out here on the fringe, we'll take the Doors, true theatrical, poetic, musical madness. Genius comes to mind, but I guess that is lost on you.
nooooo.... he just enjoyed playing man!!!!!!! great story teller
This can't be circa 1969. Jim has no beard or a gut
jim was starting to get fat around this time..
Just to share---they came out rocking with Roadhouse, then Peace Frog. After medleys, all went dark: then Jim in a spotlight shrieking "WAKE UP!" and off we went into Celebration. Densmore simply unbelievable. Ray skinny in Tshirt, long blond locks bouncing. A "wall of sound" system, but Robbie growling thru a Fender Bandmaster, just the guts of it miked at his feet. The PA sucked but so grateful to have Boston CD! I was just out of Catholic school (thank God), no idea what that funny smell was.
at night, i roll my humble joint, turn off the lights, light a candle, and i brainwash myself, from everything, just like washing your hair after a long day, i play the doors very loud, my headphone becomes my phone to the other side, i hear music from high above,, calm me down, charge me with very strange but beautiful energy.
take me to very new places, scary, vivid, and unreal.
this is my experience :-) i hope you enjoy yours
check guy dancing to left of stage on this is the ''end '' .
Morrison was shooting beer after beer in the show---must have drunk a case before our eyes. He unscrewed the mike stand and smashed a hole in the stage with it, then used it like a spear scaring the audience who thought he'd throw it at them. When the cops turned off the power to end the show, he started cursing into the PA (which was separate/still working), and Ray carried him off the stage before he got arrested again!
