Deception Of Faith - Destroy The Holy

Review by Haley Morgan Smith

Deception Of Faith's new album, Destroy The Holy, is a fierce and uncompromising release that showcases the band's skills and creativity. From the opening track, "Fallen Angels," to the closing notes of "Rise Of The Antichrist," the album is a relentless assault on the senses, with heavy riffs, thunderous drums, and guttural vocals that will leave listeners breathless.

The band's influences are clear, with nods to classic thrash and death metal, but they have also injected their own unique sound and style into the mix. The songs are well-crafted, with memorable hooks and choruses that will have fans singing along in no time.

One of the standout tracks is "Sacrifice The Weak," which features blistering guitar solos and a crushing rhythm section. The lyrics are also a highlight, with themes of rebellion and anti-religious sentiment that will resonate with fans of the genre.

About Deception Of Faith

Deception of Faith was a Farmingdale, New York-based Ohio Heavy/Doom Metal Band formed in summer 2006. Their name was inspired by the song "Deception of Faith". The color scheme on their "Destroy the Holy" demo is also a nod to Decimation's "Armed to the Teeth" demo, although the music is a completely different style. They later started a Black Metal band called BlackWinged but soon both bands dissolved due to legal troubles and Kenny formed bands Black Illusion (who after a lineup change) became Hell Battalion, which even recorded a session (and took a band photo) with John Bowker on guest 2nd-guitar years later. They broke up in 2009 during production of thieir 6-song "Screams From The Gallows" EP. John, Kenny, Richie Dondorf and Mike Probst soon formed Strick-9 Saviors, a Blackened-Crust Punk precursor to . After The D-Gen's split Jockel and Dondorf formed Empyreal Slaughter alongside guitarist Pat Park, but this was sadly short lived when after when Jockel's master hard drive (which encluded the entire recording history of Strick-9 Saviors, Hell Battalion, etc), recording equipment, some drum equipment, and 2 of Dondorfs favorite basses were stolen during a home-invasion robbery, forcing them into a musical hiatus for some time.
