David Santo - Silver Currents

Review by Michael van Laar

David Santo's album Silver Currents is a masterful work of art that showcases his exceptional talent as a musician and songwriter. The album features a collection of ten songs, each with its unique style and melody, yet all tied together by a common theme of love, loss, and hope.

The album opens with the hauntingly beautiful track "Silver Currents," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song is a perfect blend of acoustic and electric guitar, with Santo's soulful vocals weaving a tale of heartbreak and longing.

The album's second track, "Lost in the Light," is a captivating ballad that showcases Santo's ability to craft a melody that lingers long after the song has ended. The track features stunning harmonies and lush instrumentation, making it one of the highlights of the album.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Echoes of the Past," a haunting ballad that explores the pain of lost love, and "Golden Hour," a beautiful ode to the fleeting moments of happiness in life.

Looking for a version by Dorian Gray, released by Parlophone on 27th Sept 1968, anyone heard of that version?
So light and chill. Lovely track, cheers.
I've only heard this song by an obscure duo called Gaitley & Fitzgerald. I never knew it had been recorded by anyone else! Has anyone else ever heard the G&F recording besides me???
I haven't heard my cousin Davids voice singing his songs in years . Coming across jingle down a hill was a wonderful discovery. Thank you.
"Alone and free, the world to see.... Jingle Down a Hill..........."
reminds me on Donovan ;)
I recall hearing this song back in 1967/68 - year between graduating high school and starting college.  WNEW 102.7 FM New York played progressive "folk rock" songs like "Jingle Down a Hill." Evokes memories of those days. Has a half century really zipped by already? Thank you for posting this. I miss my youth.
i always thought that the gaitley & fitzgerald version came first (certainly sounds older), but i just got a copy of this LP and on the back it says "all selections written by david santo". still a chance that g&f recorded it first i guess, but santo wrote it anyway.
Masterpiece of an era gone by!!such songs do not fear the test of time.
got this beautiful 45 also in my collection - incredible nice
Amazing and therefore in my sixties playlist
Incredible Sixties Jewel !
What a pysch corker sooooo up my street .cheers for the share man
93's! Great!!
David Santo now gone from this earth but his spirit lives on with work like this as well as his very special guitars built with the same spirit. I'm honored to have had him a friend and to have had the pleasure to make music with him.
Wowww the coolest tune I heard in a long time!!!!!
Tried to find any of his stuff on half.com. nothing.
Only heard this once before: sometime in '69, driving on Route 9W in Englewood Cliffs on my way to work around 2 in the afternoon, stoned on reefer. Gone forever until now.
Can you please post more songs by David Santo?
