Dandy - Rock Steady With Dandy

pantagruella

Review by Stephen Rogers

Rock Steady With Dandy is an impressive album by the legendary Jamaican singer Dandy. The album features a mix of classic and contemporary reggae songs, all delivered with Dandy's signature smooth vocals and infectious rhythms.

The album opens with the upbeat "Rudy A Message To You," a classic ska tune that sets the tone for the rest of the album. From there, Dandy takes listeners on a journey through the best of rocksteady, with standout tracks like "Move Up," "I'm Your Puppet," and "Come Back My Darling."

Despite being released in 1967, the album has a timeless quality that makes it just as relevant today as it was over 50 years ago. Dandy's talent as a songwriter and performer shines through on every track, and the album is a must-listen for any fan of reggae music.

About Dandy

Dandy Livingstone (born Robert Livingstone Thompson, 14 December 1943, Kingston, Jamaica) is a Jamaican reggae musician and producer. Dandy Livingstone moved to the United Kingdom in the late 1950ies. When London-based Carnival Records were seeking a Jamaican vocal duo, Livingstone filled the requirement by double-tracking his own voice, releasing records in this fashion under the name Sugar & Dandy. Dandy signed with Ska Beat Records in 1967 and released his debut album entitled "Rocksteady with Dandy" in 1968. The same year he moved into production and formed the duo Dandy & Audrey with Audrey Hall. He later produced the monster hit "Red Red Wine" with Tony Tribe. In 1968, Livingstone signed to Trojan Records and got his own Trojan subsidiary, Down Town Records.
