The Géza Anda Piano album by Chopin, Schumann, Schubert is a beautiful compilation of some of the most iconic classical pieces. The album showcases the virtuosic skills of pianist Géza Anda, who brings a unique and expressive interpretation to each piece.
The album opens with Chopin's Nocturne in C-sharp minor, Op. posth, a hauntingly beautiful piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Anda's delicate touch and emotional phrasing bring out the melancholic nature of the piece, making it a standout track.
Schumann's Carnaval, Op. 9 is another highlight of the album, showcasing Anda's technical proficiency and ability to bring out the contrasting moods of each movement. From the playful "Pierrot" to the dramatic "Chopin," Anda's interpretation is both nuanced and engaging.
The album closes with Schubert's Sonata in A minor, D. 784, a complex and demanding piece that showcases Anda's mastery of phrasing and dynamics. The final movement, marked "Allegro vivace," is particularly impressive, with Anda's lightning-fast fingers flying across the keys with ease.

Artist inserts a lot of fermatas, especially at the commencement of right-hand triplets in 1rst movement (the lead triplet on downbeat after some measures not containing triplets). Does some of it in 2nd movement, too. Think he's being artistic. Not sure they were worth it, musically.
